[A seventy-year-old drunk, skeletal and haggard.]<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I sometimes wish zombies existed.<\/p>\n

And no, I\u2019m not crazy\u2026I just miss my dead daughter.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want her to come back as a zombie either. That\u2019d be awful, worse than missing her. She didn\u2019t just up and die anyway\u2026 she was murdered. There\u2019s a big difference.<\/p>\n

Although I didn\u2019t give her much thought when she was alive. I couldn\u2019t. \u00a0I was brimming with hate and anger; always shit-faced drunk or just sober enough to make some money for more booze. I was also an asshole to her and to her mother.<\/p>\n

But on the day she got murdered, when the police caught the sonofabitch and they told me how he had made my little girl suffer, just out of pleasure\u2026 well, I stopped drinking right then and there. It was easy. I didn\u2019t want to drown my pain anymore. I needed it so I could focus it on the murderer, with all its intensity, all its venom.<\/p>\n

During the trial, I wished they would let him go free\u2026 so I could kill him myself. But they sent him to jail. Many years.<\/p>\n

And me? Well, I remained sober, got a job, cleaned up my act. I even started exercising. I just wanted to be alive when that sonofabitch got out. I was tempted by religion too but, again, I didn\u2019t want anything \u00a0interfering with my hate.<\/p>\n

Thirty years went by. I lived a normal life. Uneventful. I didn\u2019t suffer. Didn\u2019t feel pleasure. I just did the time with him\u2026waiting for mine to come.<\/p>\n

And it did.<\/p>\n

The day he got out, I followed him into an alley and shot him six times. Then went straight to the first bar I saw and got drunk.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been drunk since\u2026 because as soon as killed that sonofabitch, I knew my\u00a0hate \u00a0wouldn’t die along with him. And indeed, it\u2019s still inside\u00a0me, more painful than ever.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I said I wish zombies existed\u2026 because if that sonofabitch was one of them, I could spend the rest of my life killing him time and time again.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m afraid this hate of mine is the only possible zombie.<\/p>\n

It must be because I don\u2019t see a way to get rid of it.<\/p>\n
